Try Not To Complain and Moan Incessantly

Incessantly is defined as: continuing without interruption; ceaseless; unending:⠀

Moaning is defined as: a prolonged, low, inarticulate sound uttered from or as if from physical or mental suffering.⠀

Trust me when I tell you I've done my fair share of complaining and moaning. I've noticed recently that society is ripe with complainers and moaners. Talk radio, internet sites, blogs, debate shows...the list goes on and on. It's frightening how much we all complain.⠀

It makes me think about Laman and Lemuel. They were the older brothers of Nephi and Sam. They were taught by the same parents as Nephi, but had a completely different outlook on life. Their natural tendency was to complain and be difficult. I had a wise leader tell me one time, that we are all more like Laman and Lemuel than we care to admit. I believe that's why their story is right at the very beginning of the Book of Mormon. We all need to read it, hear it and apply it. ⠀

The Lord never complained. He moaned in agony, only when the weight of the human race was placed squarely on His shoulders. His example is who we should be following. I challenge ALL of us to commit to not complaining or moaning for the rest of this week. I know as we strive to do this, our hearts and minds will be uplifted. I also know we will have more ability to serve and see the world with a better perspective. We would be wise to follow Elder Holland's counsel.⠀
