When I was in the MTC, we had a member of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles come and speak. He spoke about a lot of things, but one part sticks out. He told us missionaries that heartache, trial, tribulation, loneliness, frustration, sadness and anger were all part of the missionary experience. He told us those weren't reasons to give up or stop being a missionary. He told us that as long as we were wearing Christ's name on our chests, we would feel the best opposition the world had to give us. He begged us never to doubt our testimonies or our love of the Savior. I've never forgotten this.⠀
Just like being a missionary, we wear our testimony of the Savior on our hearts. We don't have to wear a badge to be one of his disciples. Life can sometimes throw heartache, trials, tribulation, loneliness, frustration, sadness and anger our way. These aren't reasons to give up or throw in the towel. I would like to think the counsel above applies to everyone, not just missionaries. As long as we are following our loving Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, we will face opposition. The adversary doesn't want us to find joy or be happy. He doesn't want us to get excited about the Gospel or serving others. If he can get us off course, and keep us there, he wins. ⠀
The struggle is real. This is precisely why our Savior went through all he went through. He wanted to be able to understand exactly what we would go through. He knows how to help us individually and specifically. He knows how to lead us to safety. Hold your head high today knowing heaven is on your side!⠀
